Today we learned about breakfast by ourselves---not as interesting as with other passengers. Then we did some laundry---nice people, but some don’t know much about running a Maytag washer or any washer. Anyway we got whites done. Went for a walk around the ship, took pictures on the top deck and viewed the bridge. We were careful to get inside before the noon whistle sounded.
Had some lunch at different venues and went for a turn around the deck--actually more than a mile--approximately 2700 steps. Temperature Is a bit chilly; none of the cushions for the deck chairs were out of their boxes and a very few people on deck---only power walkers who think they own the deck. After our walk we returned to the cabin for a rest.
About 3:30 Neil went to the art historian’s lecture on Hogarth and the satire in his paintings/engravings. Clearly the man knows more about the paintings, than he did about architecture. It was interesting and he only said arrah! a couple of times. Nancy, who refused to go see arrah man again, went to a beginning French class for native French speakers--she, as a real beginner, was not a good fit. The woman sitting next to her was from France. She didn't stay.
After these forays into the world of culture, we got dressed for dinner, semi formal which means Neil still had to wear a jacket and tie and Nancy a skirt --had another great one—details to follow. After dinner we spent some time in the casino. We started with $1.00 and after two different machines ended with almost $5.00-- not bad playing 2 cent and 5 cent machines. It was time for the show so we cashed out and went to the theater. Cunard doesn't make big bucks on us in the Casino.
From the third row center we saw a marvelous recital by the Cunard Singers and bands. It was splendid as these are talented young people who are great showmen/women. We had already decided this would be an earlier night so we walked down to G32 for a diet coke and walked back to our cabin—it was tough--the live band in the Queen’s Room sounded really good and there were lots of tables open but we passed through slowly. A few night time chores, ordered a wake-up breakfast of coffee and Danish room service, pills, and then to bed. Another full day of pampered life on the QM2.
