Sunday, a day of rest—not! We had a day’s blog, packing, and some social events all on top of eating to get done. Got up—got clean, and went down to breakfast again: some charming people and some who can put away food. After breakfast we went back to our cabin and began packing.
At 10:15 or so we attended a lecture on steam conquering the Atlantic, but it was really kudos for Cunard—well done. Then to holiday dinner disguised as lunch as Nancy labeled it. We went to a different buffet line and got a slice of roast beef about ¾ of an inch thick—it was really more than I could eat, and the carver asked me If I wanted another piece; no, I said.
After lunch we did some deck walking and went to a musical radio mystery put on by the entertainment staff. It was hilarious; they we reading a scrip and trading one liners, and the passenger dragooned into sound effects was hilarious. We didn’t recognize most of the musical clues, but we laughed a lot, mainly from the one liners and the mispronunciations (on purpose). Back to the cabin to pack some more and then up to the top. We are much closer to land (not yet visible) and more ships are at the edge of vision including one crazy sailboat which looked tiny in the middle of the English Channel.
Sometime in the afternoon we stopped in the casino to spend our 60 tokens, instead we won forty more and played back down to 30 which we saved for this evening. Casino play is the nickel slot and is reserved for the clearing of the elevators. We finished packing the three big bags and put the bags in the hall to be collected by the Cunard employees for off-loading tomorrow.
Dinner was as usual ….wonderful. After dinner we again went to the Royal Court theatre for a Vareity review by the Cunard singers and dancers with a medley of songs by Sting. The harpist from Uraquay came back with 4 Latin numbers and finally the bass baritone Anthony Llyod performed again. It was a great performance.
We decided to cash in our 3 dollars instead of playing the slots….in the interest of getting to bed at a decent hour. We climbed the stairs from second to seventh floor since the elevators were so crowded. We checked out the deck for a bit and saw a lighthouse. Then on to bed.
Around two o’clock either the person above or next to us decided he or she should pack. We weren’t impressed….since the stomping and dropping of things woke both of us with a start and a worry that the ship had malfunctioned…..nope, just a moron.
