Another regular day, July 8

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Another regular old day. We got up with the intention of going to Edinburgh for another day of sight-seeing; however, after the blog that I tried to post turned to all weird code and would not return to English and pictures, I spent another 1 ½ hours putting it back together.

After all of that we felt guilty about being so far behind on the blogs. We had gotten behind because although the Highlands are beautiful, there was a definite lack of technology connection, especially in the places we stayed. We are also trying to keep a written log of the pictures we have taken so that they don’t all become “It’s a building in somewhere.” This are quite a number of pictures since Nancy has discovered the ease of digital and now subscribes to the take a picture of everything, maybe even two, methodology. We made the decision to forego another day of fun in the interest of getting caught up before we leave for Paris and Amsterdam. This was a really tough decision, but stay in the flat and work we did.

We worked on identifying pictures and writing blogs until 12:30. Then we said a break is definitely needed. We went to Marks and Spensers with Pete to pick out some ready meals for dinner. I have never seen so many different ready meals available in one spot. They are not frozen dinners; they are packaged and ready to pop in the oven. Pete picked out a couple of curry meals, rice, and naan, a bread which I have misspelled. Pete left for a meeting and Neil and I went out for lunch and went back to Mark and Spensers after lunch to pick up the food. We picked up a couple of Chinese meanls to go with the curries.

We went to a place called Nondos which Pete recommended. It is a variation of a chicken fast food café. The chicken is not breaded but grilled. You can get a chicken breast on a panni, a pita, or a bun. The chicken is marinated with a sauce called peri-peri sauce from Portugal. It is quite spicy; even the mild herb one is hotter than most food I eat.

After lunch we went back to the flat and did more pictures and more blogs. Well, at least Nancy did….Neil took a wee 2 hour nap.

We shared the international cuisine for dinner and worked on organizing the Paris excursion.
